Current Men's Singles World Champion Wang Hao and Women's World #2 Li Xiaoxia will represent China in the Volkswagen 2011 Cup to be held in the city of Guangzhou, China.

In line with the recent unfortunate calamities that hit Japan, a lot of sports events where cancelled in some parts of the country.

However, the Japanese TT Association announced on March 15, 2011 that the Asian Cup will be conducted according to its original date and venue – March 26 and 27 in Yokohama.

Ai Fukuhara, Jun Mizutani, Kenta Matsudaira, and Kasumi Ishikawa will all participate in the event representing Japan. On the other hand, China will send Ma Lin and Liu Shiwen to compete.

The director of Japan TT Association Masahiro Maehara said, “I hope that our decision of not postponing the Asian TT Cup will serve as a motivation to the victims.”

Fukuhara despite grief for hometown, Sendai, has been training in Shanghai for the Asian TT Cup. Along with Ai and other Japanese TT players, China and other countries will also be sending their top players to compete.

According to the list released by the Japanese TT Association, China will send Ma Lin, Chen Qi, Liu Shiwen and Guo Yue. In addition, Singapore’s Feng Tianwei and Wang Yuegu will also be competing in Japan for the Asian TT Cup.
