2011 Wttc: Women’S Doubles Semifinals Results

Guo Yue / Li Xiaoxia (CHN) 4-0 Kim Kyung Ah / Park Mi Young (KOR) 

The Korean pair successfully challenged the top seeded Chinese pair in the first round where it reached several match points. However, Guo / Li succeeded in winning the round in 12-10. After the first round win, Chinese pair gained the momentum and posted an impressive 11-4 and 11-6 in the second and third rounds respectively.

Korea led the start of the fourth round but China managed to close the gap in 4-4. Kim / Park displayed a great degree of fighting spirit and tied in 10-10 after Guo Yue’s errors. However, the two pairs proved persistent and once again tied in 11-11. After the tie, Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia secured their spot in the finals.

Jiang Huajun / Tie Yana (HKG) 0-4 Ding Ning / Guo Yan (CHN)

The Chinese pair played extremely powerful at the start of the match and literally dominated the score boards. The Hong Kong pair, on the other hand, had no way to defend themselves from the lethal attacks released by China. Ding Ning and Guo Yan nailed a very impressive 11-3 score in both first and second rounds.

In the third round, the Hong Kong pair played a lot better and caught up from 4-8 to leveling in 8-8. Hong Kong, this time managed to earn their tenth point but Ding Ning and Guo Yan proved to be more in control over the game and posted a 3-0 after a long 13-11 score in the third round.

Ding Ning and Guo Yan finished the match in the fourth round in 12-10 and they are expected to face the top seeded players Li Xiaoxia and Guo Yue in the finals for the women’s doubles.
