Wang Yuegu Won Brazil Open 2011

Only two days and 4 matches were needed for Wang Yuegu to get her 2nd consecutive Brazil Open title today in Rio de Janeiro.

As the number one seed, Yuegu started the defense of her title yesterday facing Gui Lin from Brazil, and beating her by 4-0 (11-6, 11-5, 11-7, 11-5). Later, he went to the court again and beat her compatriot Zhou Yihan by 4-0 again (11-5,11-8,11-8,11-6). After a perfect first day she was in the semifinals.

And today the story wasn't that much different. At 10:30am Wang Yuegu jumped to the court again to fight another compatriot, Yu Mengyu, and Yuegu stood victorious again after prevailing over Yu by 4-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4) in the first half of an all Singapore Women's semifinals. In the other one, Li Jiawei beat Sun Beibei by 4-0 (11-8,11-8,11-8,12-10) and reached the final also without losing a single game in the previous matches.

In the final, both players seemed to be in a hurry to end the match very quickly, without even setting aside the proper time between games as reported by the ITTF. And so it was with this hectic pace that Wang Yuegu got the first 2 games by 11-9 and 11-7, But things weren't that easy this time for the #1 seeded since Li Jiawei showed that she was still in the match by getting the third by 5-11. Nevertheless, Yuegu had the control on her hands and got the 4th by 11-5. With an advantage of 3-1 and a better world ranking, Wang Yuegu simply had to keep the rythm to win the match, which she did by getting the fifth by 11-8 and thus winning the final by an score of 4-1 (11-9, 11-7, 5-11, 11-5, 11-8).
