Today August 13th was the fourth day of the competition and the second one of the main draw. U21 competition already ended today with victories for Japan and India. In doubles the Chilean pair of Paulina Vega and Berta Rodríguez made history reaching the semifinals of the Women's Doubles competition while in singles the top four seeded players advanced to the semifinal in both Men's and Women's division.

The 2011 edition of the Chile Open started to finish today August 13th in the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico of Santiago, with the finals of the U21 events. In Girl's Misaki Morizono beat Manika Brata, who surprinsingly defeated Kasumi Ishikawa in the semifinals yesterday, while Suomyjit Ghosh defeated his compatriot Harmeet Desai in the all-India Boy's final.

But it was the Women's Doubles competition where the emotions were high thanks to the historic bronze medal got by Chilean Table Tennis through the pair formed by Paulina Vega and Berta Rodríguez who overcame Korean duo Jeon Ji Hee / Oh Ah Reum by 4-2 to reach the semifinals where they finally were defeated by the Indian pair of Shamini Kumaresan / Madhurika Patkar in an exciting match by an score of 4-3 (11-8, 11-8, 11-7, 6-11, 9-11, 10-12, 11-9).

In the other side of the draw, the all-Japanese Women's Doubles semifinal was won by the Kasumi Ishikawa / Sayaka Hirano pair, who overcame their compatriots Ayuka Tanioka / Misaki Morizono by an score of 4-3 and will face tomorrow the Indian pair for their chance to get the title of the Women's Doubles competition.

Not so fortunate were the Indian Men's pairs in the doubles competition, where the duos of Shetty / Chakraborty and Desai / Ghosh were defeated in the semifinals matchs by Argentina's Javier Cillis / Liu Song and Brazil's Eric Mancini / Cazuo Matsumoto thus being relegated from the possibility of fighting for the gold medal.

Finally, the singles competition reached its semifinals stage being completely occupied by the top 4 seeded in both Men's and Women's competition: Chuan Chih-Yuan vs Hugo Hoyama and Gustavo Tsuboi vs Liu Song in Men's while Kasumi Ishikawa vs Misaki Morizono and Yoon Sun Ae vs Sayako Hirano in Women's.

Tomorrow we will see the singles semifinals during the Santiago's morning while the afternoon will be reserved for the finals in Men's and Women's doubles and singles competition.
