After all seeded players fell off the competition, the Men's Singles boiled down to two of the more popular names in the younger generation of Chinese Table Tennis players: Fang Bo for Shandong and Zhou Yu for PLA.

As soon as the match started, the player from the PLA Team was quick into establishing himself in the arena. In fact, Zhou Yu was dominating every rally, giving not much opportunities to his opponent. Eventually, Zhou Yu owned the opening set.

In the second set, the Shandong player came back into the arena and played better than the previous one. This time, Fang Bo was able to release himself and face the attacks from his opponent.

However, such sign of recovery did not destroy the composure of Zhou Yu. He now led in 2-0.

After losing the first two sets, Fang Bo finally got a set point advantage in 10-8. However, his opponent was just not easily giving up. Zhou Yu caught up after forcing errors on Fang Bo. It was tied in 10-10. The two boys fought with their relentless topspins but it was Zhou Yu who finished it.

At this point, Fang Bo was under tremendous amount of pressure as the player standing at the opposite side of the table was in a 3-0 lead and was still unstoppable. However, this time, Fang Bo finally broke the winning streak of Zhou Yu as he posted his first set.

However, such performance did not totally break the momentum of Zhou Yue. In the fifth set, Zhou Yu ended the match with 11-2, 11-5, 13-11, 8-11, 11-8. Eventually, Zhou Yu won his first ever National Singles championship title.

With just minutes after battling for the Women's Doubles, PLA's Cao Zhen embarked on another final match in the 2012 Chinese National Championships as she played in the Women's Singles. Cao Zhen met her younger colleague Yang Yang.

Despite being a lesser experienced player compared to Cao Zhen, Yang Yang actually played impressively tough. In all sets, Yang Yang has showed a high degree of resistance, making her opponent feeling a little bit threatened.

Throughout the match, every point was hard-earned. Indeed, Yang Yang's efforts were still lacking as Cao Zhen took all her opportunities. At the end, Cao Zhen convincingly won the Women's Singles title in 11-9, 12-10, 12-10, 11-8.
