Li Xiaodan/Wen Jia Won The Women Doubles Title In Qatar

It was a tough semifinal entry for the Chinese seeds Li Xiaodan and Wen Jia. Before reaching the finals, they had to overcome the challenge from their teammates Chen Meng and Gu Yuting. Meanwhile,. the Singaporean Li Jiawei / Sun Beibei swept their way through the finals.

The Singaporean pair started the match with great control and sealed the first set with an 11-7. The second set was ushered by an intense exchange between the pairs as they were tied in 3-3. After the tie, the Chinese pair found their rhythm and had set point 10-6 then leveled things in 1-1 with 11-6.

Both teams were still having a hard time in establishing their lead in the third set as they were tied in 6-6. After the tie, Li and Wen found their opportunity and had their advantage in 10-6. Singaporean partnership saved two more points before China sealed their 2-1 lead in 11-8.

After loosing in the previous rounds, Li Jiawei and Sun Beibei nailed a 4-0 lead. The Chinese partnership narrowed their deficit to 5-6 then closing the gap in 6-6. After Li Xiaodan and Wen Jia overtook to 7-6, the Singaporean camp called for a timeout. After the game resumed, Chinese pair increased their lead further to 10-6 then posting their lead in 3-1 with 11-8.

In the fifth set, Chinese pair Li Xiaodan and Wen Jia sealed the first championship title in the 2012 Qatar Open with 11-5.
