The World Team Championships is the last major competition before the much awaited London Olympics. For the coaches, the Dortmund championships is considered to be the final exam of the players. As for Ma Lin, his test started in the Asian Championships Men Team events where he displayed a powerful performance. Ma Lin's coach Wu Jingping affirmed such performance and said that the veteran was in an impressive level during the test.

Although the coaches have stated that the World Team Championships will not be their sole criterion for the Olympic lineup, we all know that the competition is still considered a final exam of the players.

As Ma Lin's head coach, Wu Jingping affirmed the importance of the World Team Championships. At the same time, he also said that it has indeed a a certain degree of danger hiding behind its facade.

"The World Team Championships in Dortmund would be the last venue for us to see who are those players who can seize their opportunities stronger. If they will seize their opportunity then they will have greater challenge. If not, they will be in trouble. Especially in the critical match, pressure will surely be greater." Wu Jingping explained.

"The Asian Championships Men Team event, Ma Lin's match against Jun Mizutani was already a test for him. Last year, Ma Lin lost quite a number of matches and Jun Mizutani is a strong opponent. Jun Mizutani's level is not inferior to the level of Timo Boll who happens to be the main rival of the Chinese Team. Ma Lin's performance in that test was in a high level and his abilities were strong." Wu Jingping acknowledging the efforts from the Olympic champion.

After having six appearances in the World Team Championships, Ma Lin's ability in the competition in unquestionable. Two years ago in Moscow, Ma Lin has exerted great efforts in the match after the unexpected defeat of the Chinese Women Team. If not for the assistance of the veteran, the younger generation may have a hard time to withstand the pressure. If Ma Lin can do the same kind of performance in Dortmund, it will undoubtedly add points in favor for Ma Lin.
