The U21 Boys and Girls Singles of the 2012 China Open had its conclusion today in Shanghai where seeded players successfully took the championship title.
Top seeds successfully reached the semifinal stage of the Girls division except for the South Korean Jeon Ji Hee who was beaten by the Japanese Marina Matsuzawa in the quarterfinals.
In the upper half of the draw, the fourth seed Misaki Morizono inflicted pressure unto the top seed and teammate Kasumi Ishikawa after forcing a decider in the semifinal match. But despite some challenges, Ishikawa surpassed the hurdle and sealed her slot in the finals. Meanwhile, in the lower half of the draw, the third seed from North Korea Ri Myong Sun defeated the third Japanese in the semifinals. Marina Matsuzawa, in six sets.
In the finals, it was the North Korean Ri Myong Sun who won the title in 7-11, 11-5, 11-5, 14-12, and 12-10.

As for the Boys division, top seeds also reached the penultimate stage of the competition except for the fourth seed Omar Assar of Egypt who had an early exit in the Round 16.
As expected, the top seed Chen Chien An of Chinese Taipei ruled in the upper half of the draw after sweeping the South Korean Kim Dong Hyun. Meanwhile, in the lower half of the draw, the third seed from Singapore, Chen Feng overcame the second seed Patrick Franziska of Germany. In the Men Singles, Franziska made his presence felt after reaching the third round.
After having easy semifinal matches, Chen Chien An and Chen Feng were set for a hard battle in the finals. Indeed, their match lasted to the full seven-set match as Chen Feng forced a decider in the sixth set. Despite efforts from the Singaporean, Chen Chien An came prepared for such challenge and scored 11-6, 5-11, 13-11, 12-10, 10-12, 6-11, and 11-7.
