The Singaporean Women Team of Feng Tianwei, Wang Yuegu and Li Jiawei has always been considered a strong team in their field next to China. In many competitions, these two countries usually meet in the finals. In the Beijing Olympics, Singapore settled with silver however, in the upcoming London Olympics, taking the same medal at least will be a harder task.

The Singaporean Team is not to be taken for granted in the women table tennis. They have proven in a number of times their strength as they have successfully inflicted great threat to the strongest team in the world, China.

"After the end of the Beijing Olympics, we set a goal of winning two Olympic medals in London. We have been doing our efforts to move forward towards that goal. Although there are a lot difficulties encountered along the road, we will still not lower the target. There has been ups and downs in the result of our women team but I believe that they will return victorious." Li Meihua, member of the Singaporean parliament, said.

The Singaporean Team of Feng Tianwei, Wang Yuegu and Li Jiawei have always been strong in the women table tennis. They are the only ones who have the capacity to upset the strongest team in the world, China.

Four years ago in Beijing, Singapore settled with the silver medal in the Women Team event. At the same time, Li Jiawei got her second consecutive fourth place in the competition. Two years ago in Moscow, Singapore did a shoking upset after they outplayed the Chinese Team in the World Team Championships winning the world title in the teams event.

However, the Singaporean Women Team is not looking so promising even for the silver medal in London. This is because they slipped in the rankings from second to third.

"We still cannot retreat. In fact, we took the second place in this year's Asian Championships. We also got second in the World Championships. We had two opportunities in the Brazil Open. Should we have won, we could have got back that second spot." Li Meihua added.

Although the London Olympics proved to be a tough competition for Singapore, the team stays optimistic. "What I told our team is that, whether you get a medal or not, the process is much more important. As long as Singaporeans can see your efforts, the medal will come by itself." Li Meihua concluded.

If Singapore has the capacity to oust the Chinese Team just as they did in Moscow, you can already imagine how interesting their match will be in London. For the meantime, let us recall one of the gloriest times of the Singapore Team.
