Puerto Rico and Brazil are the winners of the junior team event at the 2012 Latin American Championships in Ciudad de Puebla, Mexico, consequently, they qualified to the World Team Championships that will be held in India.
Puerto Rico led by Carelyn Cordero overcame Peru by 3:1 in semifinal, while Venezuela stood victorious over Chile in the same stage. In the final Cordero led her team to victory after beating Venezuela by 3:1. Gremlis Arvelo got the single point for Venezuela as she defeated Melarie Diaz in five close games. Then Cordero jumped into the arena and beat Winberly Montero by 3:2 and leveled for Puerto Rico. In the third match Daniely Rios beat Carmen Rivas by 3:0 and put Puerto Rico 2:1 up. At the end Cordero overcame Arvelo by 3:0 and sealed victory for Puerto Rico.
Brazil crowned champion in the junior boys team event by beating Chile by 3:0. Eric Jouti captured the first point for Brazil as he beat Gustavo Gomez by 3:0. In the second match Hugo Calderano, who overcame Jan-Michel Saive at the Brazil Open, got the second point fo his team after defeating Juan Lamadrid. Vitor Ishiy secured the gold medal for his team as he overcame Sebastian Roman by 3:1.
In the cadet event winners were Puerto Rico and Argentina in the girls and boys event, respectively.
