After losing two consecutive opportunities in the Olympics,  criticisms on Wang Hao have been an open book. However, as a supportive father, Wang Zhongquan readily defended his son. For him, Wang Hao is strong especially on the mental side because if he lacked the mental strength then he couldn't have reached the finals. Lastly, Wang Zhongquan believes that if Wang Hao will be able to achieve success in London, then he will be hailed as the true Grand Slam winner.

Wang Hao was once heavily burdened because although he had a number of championship titles in his career, his best performance in the Olympics has always been the silver medal alone. And this kind of frustration has remained in the minds of the people and him as well.

Wang Zhongquan, his father, said that on that time Wang Hao also was not happy with his failure. As a father, Wang Zhongquan smiled and said: "If he can play for the second place, it means that the level of that athlete is still quite high because reaching the finals is not an easy task at all." Wang Zhongquan, remained optimistic and that gave a positive impact on his son.

Because of consecutive failures in the Olympic finals, Wang Hao has gained a lot of criticisms on his metal strength which eventually led to continuous misses of opportunities. However, Wang Zhongquan beg to disagree.

"His mental strength is actually strong enough. For an average person, he may have early burnt out in the competition. Most people can not withstand such a big blow." Wang Zhongquan defended.

After getting the runner-up position in the Beijing Olympic Men Singles, Wang Hao made his presence felt in the 11th National Championships the following year after winning the gold medals in Men Singles, Men Team, and the Mixed Doubles. That time, Wang Hao proved that he still have that high degree of competitiveness.

During 2010, Wang Hao did not participate in the world tour series for half of the year. Because of this, there was a clear decline in Wang Hao's technical skills and psychological condition. From the peak down to the ground, Wang Zhongquan gave his son a powerful weapon - his 2009 National Championships video. For him, Wang Hao's aura during that competition was very domineering. Wang Zhongquan believed that the video will help his son to find the right momentum. Eventually, Wang Hao was able to sprint for his Olympic ticket.

Last week, as Wang Hao was on his way to the London Olympics, Wang Zhongquan gave some words of encouragement. His loss against Ryu Seung Min in the Athens Olympics was a pity while his loss against Ma Lin in Beijing was quite normal. On his third expedition, there shouldn't be any stress and just play.

"Do not lose against foreigners. Be with your teammate in the finals and you have already completed the task. Make every effort and it'll be good. Relax but not too much to lose. Let go out that soldier's spirit." Wang Zhongquan said. Although Wang Hao doesn't admit it, his parents know that it has been a struggle for him to adhere for the Grand Slam.

"Wang Hao has already earned nearly 70 championship titles in his career. With such results, it can be said that Wang Hao as a "great athlete" is not exaggerated. However, Wang Hao just feels some drawbacks which make the difference for the Olympic Singles." Wang Zhongquan said.

Being a Grand Slam winner means having to win the Olympics, World Championships and the World Cup. The Chinese Grand Slam winners Liu Guoliang and Kong Linghui have both indeed earned those titles but they still haven't conquered the National Championships.

If Wang Hao's hard works will be fruitful and will win the London Olympics, then Wang Hao could be higher than the Chinese legends Liu Guoliang and Kong Linghui and be the true Grand Slam winner.
