Spread the love for Table Tennis!

Zhang Jike won the World Championships and the World Cup last year. This puts him just one step away of becoming the fourth Grand Slam winner in the history of Table Tennis. This is also the same for Wang Hao who earned his first world championship title in Yokohama 2009. Wang Hao also has three world cup titles under his belt, this also makes him one medal shy for the Grand Slam. However, between these two players, Zhang Jike has more advantages...

Zhang Jike is young and is still very fierce inside the arena. His performances has been really outstanding during the last two years, making him the most popular Table Tennis athlete as of today. He is not just famous but he is also the favorite player to win in London.

Despite such fame, there is one big challenge that Zhang Jike has to face and it will be his lack of Olympic experience. Liu Guoliang has been very expressive about the importance of experience in big competitions. For him, technical skills will not be the deciding factor but the mental stability which can be achieved through experience as well.

However, let us not forget the 2011 World Championships in Rotterdam where it was actually the first ever participation of Zhang Jike in the Men Singles. Despite lack of experience, Zhang Jike was brilliant. He surpassed every hurdle victoriously including some of the biggest names in Table Tennis.

Who can forget Zhang Jike's performance against the German superstar Timo Boll in the semifinals. You could actually feel the heat inside the arena and the heartbeats as well! After five sets, Zhang Jike defeated the reason for Liu Guoliang's sleepless nights.
