Cai Zhenhua's Answer To China's Haters

Cai Zhenhua's Answer To China's Haters
Spread the love for Table Tennis!

The Chinese Team has been attacked by foreign media after the 2012 London Olympics. Although China only ranked second in the medal tally, there are haters who are complaining on the Chinese monopoly over table tennis and badminton. As the head of China's State General Administration of Sports, Cai Zhenhua just took the comments lightly and cited the Men's Basketball as a perfect example.

The 2012 London Olympics ended with China having four golds from table tennis and 5 golds from badminton. This only means that China clearly dominates these two sports. Although China has once again proven their high profile status in table tennis and badminton, such glory seems to plant some land mines over the two sports.

Just this week, Japanese media brought up the issue on the possibility of table tennis to be cancelled in the 2020 Olympics. They were saying that because of their monopoly, table tennis is placed in danger.

First of all, the standard for selecting the sports in the Olympics is the impact it has on the international scene. On this point, table tennis is safe. Although it is clear China and other Asian countries dominate the sport, European countries are not to be taken for granted as well. As of now, America is also promising in the sport. Thanks for Ariel Hsing.

In addition, it is also considered as a general knowledge that Europe's intention is actually vital for the International Olympic Committee. That is why most cancelled sports, like baseball and softball, have been cancelled based on the premise that America really excel on this sports.

On this note, table tennis is still safe. We have actually a good number of European countries who can play well. Not to mention that there are also various table tennis leagues in Europe.

As for Cai Zhenhua, there is nothing to worry about. On his opinion, as long as the Men's Basketball will stay in the Olympics, table tennis is safe as well. "The American Men Basketball Team has been continuously the favourite to win the Olympic gold. However, men's basketball has never been suggested to be cancelled in the Olympic Games." Cai Zhenhua started.

"That is because the people in the league (NBA) has been doing a good job. It's impact is so great (internationally) so there are no worries about it." Cai Zhenhua explained.

On this note, Cai Zhenhua is confident for table tennis as there are table tennis leagues taking place in China and in Europe thus mainaiing the awareness of the sport. In addition, Cai Zhenhua also said that they are already talking about an international promotion program that will take table tennis into the world.

"Let people share the happiness from table tennis." Cai Zhenhua concluded.
