Last August 19, Wang Hao returned to his hometown Changchun boarded flight CA1655. As expected, the two-time Olympic Men Team champion Wang Hao was warmly welcomed not only by his family but also the leaders of Changchun and the media people as well.
"Thanks to the long term care and support of the home crowd. I am very happy to be able to return after a long absence in my hometown, Changchun." Wang Hao started.
Last August 2, the whole city of Changchun was glued on their television sets as the cheered for their local hero Wang Hao in the 2012 London Olympics Men Singles finals. However, the match ended in favour of the opponent, Zhang Jike in five sets. For the third time, Wang Hao settled with silver.
"I have been in such moment. I faced failure. In any competition, there is definitely a winner and a loser. I tried my best and I do not regret anything. I just don't want to give up every ball. I strived hard. Losing is normal as I have done my best efforts." Wang Hao said.
"Zhang Jike played great. I believe that the future of the Chinese Men Team, under the leadership of Zhang Jike is undoubtedly better." Wang Hao added.
Although Wang Hao failed to clinch the gold in the Singles, Wang Hao was able to successfully defend the Men Team championship title with Ma Long and Zhang Jike. However, ironically after the victorious awarding ceremony in the Men Team, Wang Hao wasn't able to control his emotions and had his tears shown in an interview.
"The Team competition is in itself embodies the whole collective efforts of the Chinese Team and even the honour of China. Being able to help the Chinese Team and stepping on top of the podium, I think everything is all worth it. I do not want to say too much, just let history witness it." Wang Hao said excitingly.
Despite losing in the Men Singles, Wang Hao described his journey in London to be perfect. "As a veteran, I have the responsibility to lead the younger athletes in moving forward for the Team event. I need to adjust my mental state for the challenge and I did it. Actually, I think it has been smooth. Probably a lot of fans were sorry for me for just being the runner-up three times. However, I personally believe that the whole process is perfect for me. Being able to get another Olympic championship was really exciting." Wang Hao concluded.
Wang Hao, along with the rest of the Chinese Olympic team will not be in the ongoing Suzhou Open as they will be in Hong Kong over the weekend for some events.
