Zhang Jike Gives A $400,000-Home To Parents (Photos)

Being the hottest table tennis player right now has its perks. Aside from fame, endorsements and recognitions seem to be simultaneous. This is what our new Olympic champion is enjoying. Of course, Zhang Jike will not forget to give back to his ever supportive parents.

Zhang Jike was crowned twice in the 2012 London Olympic Games without the presence of his parents, Zhang Chuanming and Xu Xiying. Actually before the Olympics, Zhang Jike's parents were offered by private companies to be live spectators on their son's journey in London. However, due to the pressure it might cause, Zhang Jike opted for his parents to turn down the offer. 

That is why Zhang Jike was very eager to visit his home in Qingdao the moment he returned to China last August 14. Just this weekend, Zhang Jike finally had the opportunity to visit his hometown and of course his family. 

Xu Xiying, Zhang Jike's mother, was very excited to see his son in their home. However, due to a number of guesting and appearances, Zhang Jike is still restless and this makes his mom worried. 

"Jike can only relax when he's home. Actually, Zhang Jike can't sleep very well everyday. Last night, he went out for an activity and came back past two before heading to sleep." Zhang Jike's mother lamented. To comfort their son, together with her husband, Xu Xiying cooked all the favourite dishes of Zhang Jike. "We have candied sweet potatoes and other food that he loves to eat." 

Since Zhang Chuanming and Xu Xiying were not able to go to London with their son, a trip abroad would be a nice idea for the whole family. However, this plan gives a hint of regret on Zhang Jike. "There still no time right now to go abroad." Zhang Jike started. 

However, Zhang Jike has an even greater gift. "I believe my two Olympic gold medals are the best gifts I can give them." Zhang Jike continued.

The Olympic team of table tennis is scheduled to be in Hong Kong at the end of this week for some events. As the shopping capital of China, Zhang Jike was asked if he will be going shopping. 

"I still have no plans as of now. Let us see when I arrive. However, if ever I do go shopping, I will buy not for myself but for my parents." Zhang Jike concluded.

Good things don't stop right there for the Zhang family. 

Yesterday, Zhang Jike was awarded by the Qingdao Group with a high-end apartment that is located in the city of North Xinjiang with an area of 120 square meters, fully finished and has a nice view of the sea. This apartment is worth 3 million RMB or $400,000 USD. 

The Olympic champion, Zhang Jike hands the apartment to Zhang Chuanming and Xu Xiying. This is already the second property that Zhang Jike has given his parents.
