Having to participate in three Olympic Games, Guo Yue is indeed a star in her own right. After winning her first Olympic gold in 2008 Beijing, Guo Yue felt that her value went really up as she had her share of attention. This year, Guo Yue added another Olympic gold to her collection which only means additional value to her stardom. In fact, it was reported that companies are willing to pay up to 400,000 yuan or more than $50,000 just for Guo Yue to say yes for an advertising deal.

Peninsula Morning News — At age 25, Guo Yue has already participated in three Olympic Games and that is quite hard to see someone who has such experience now. In the recently concluded Olympic Games in London, she has added another gold medal to her collection after helping the Chinese Women Team in their successful defence of the Team title.

Guo Yue started to achieve stardom when she first attended the Olympic Games. Guo Yue was still 16 years old when she participated in the Athens Olympics as a partner of Niu Jianfeng in the Women's Doubles. Unfortunately, their partnership did not live up to the expectations and as top seeds, they settle bronze. Despite that, Guo Yue was still very proud of her first Olympic medal.

"I was still 16 years old when I joined the Athens Olympic Games. At that time, I still know nothing. What I only knew was to play. When I took the bronze medal, I really felt proud when I met our provincial leaders back home." Guo Yue said.

Four years later in Beijing, Guo Yue once again embarked on another Olympic journey. She levelled up as she now played in the Singles aside from the Doubles. In the Women's Singles, Guo Yue joined her sisters in the podium after she finished with bronze. This time, Guo Yue successfully clinched her first gold medal after she, together with Zhang Yining and Wang Nan, clinched the Women's Team title.

"In 2008, I got my first Olympic gold medal in my own career. This was also the year where my income gradually increased. However, I do not understand economic situations. When I receive the money, I immediately endorse everything to my mother." Guo Yue admitted.

In 2012, for the third time, Guo Yue participated in the London Olympics as the team's third person which means she will only play in the Women's Team event. Despite limited appearance, Guo Yue successfully used her chances and helped Li Xiaoxia and Ding Ning to win the gold medal. This is now her second Olympic medal.

Because of this, the two-time Olympic champion Guo Yue is very in demand in the advertising and business world. It is even reported that Guo Yue has reached 400,000 yuan ($50,000) just by attending a business activity and her annual endorsements also reached 1.8 million yuan or $260,000

"When I got another Olympic gold medal, there were actually more businesses that sought after me and they are willing to pay 3 or 400,000 just for me to attend their activity. At this point, I realised that my value increased. I believe that this is just normal. I often see Liu Xiang and Lin Dan during training. A couple of days ago, I was able to chat with Lin Dan and they are still very down-to-earth despite the lure of money." Guo Yue concluded, explaining that one's value is not really measured in monetary items alone but with the glory you provide to your country.
