Having led the Chinese Men's Team to glory in the past three Olympic Games, head coach Liu Guoliang has been an important figure of the Chinese Team. This year, Liu Guoliang has bigger shoes to fill as he was officially appointed to be the new Head Coach of the Chinese National Team. This means, aside from still being the head coach of the men's team, Liu Guoliang is now in charge to look over the women's team as well.

Sina Sports. Yesterday, February 26, China's General Administration for Sports (Table Tennis and Badminton) held a press conference which announced the new coaching staff of the Chinese Table Tennis Team. Among the announcement was the promotion of Liu Guoliang into the head coach of the Chinese Team.

After the London Olympics, news about Liu Guoliang being promoted as the head coach of the Chinese National Team was already spreading across Chinese sporting websites. The position of the head coach has long been vacant after Cai Zhenhua took bigger office. Being the head coach of the Chinese Team and not just the men's team, responsibilities are surely serious and Liu Guoliang has kept cautious in responding towards such news.

After retiring in 2003, the Grand Slam champion Liu Guoliang took the position of the head coach of the Chinese Men's Team. In fact, Liu Guoliang was considered as the youngest head coach. Despite a young age, Liu Guoliang was able to demonstrate good work ethics and has even exceeded expectations. In the past three Olympic Games, the Chinese Team, under Liu Guoliang's leadership only lost in the Athen's Men's Singles.

With such high standards in his precession, Liu Guoliang is actually deserving enough for a promotion and be the next Cai Zhenhua. In an interview of the former director of the Table Tennis and Badminton Center, Liu Fengyan said: "Liu Guoliang has carried out outstanding achievements and great leadership."

Indeed, in the press conference held in Beijing yesterday morning, Liu Guoliang was formally appointed as the new head coach of the Chinese National Team. This means Liu Guoliang has bigger shoes to fill aside from being the head coach of the Chinese Men's Team. Kong Linghui was also formally appointed to be the next head coach of the Chinese Women's Team.

Here is the full list of the new Chinese Team coaching lineup:
