After a successful careers as table tennis players, Grand Slam winners Liu Guoliang and Kong Linghui are also making their mark in the coaching world. Recently, these two pillars of the Chinese Table Tennis Team were given more responsibilities as they were promoted to higher positions. With this, both Liu Guoliang and Kong Linghui can never be much happier and are very grateful for the trust given to them.

Sina Sports. As Grand Slam players, both Liu Guoliang and Kong Linghui are considered as two of the greatest table tennis players of all time. Although they are now already retired athletes, these two pillars are still contributing to the glory of Chinese table tennis through coaching.

Last February 26, Liu Guoliang was officially appointed as the new head coach of the Chinese National Table Tennis Team. This is on top of his responsibility as being the head coach of the men's team. Meanwhile, Kong Linghui, from being the coach of Liu Shiwen and Guo Yue, is now the new head coach of the women's team.

Liu Guoliang is the successor of Cai Zhenhua while Kong Linghui followed the footsteps of Shi Zhihao.

"I was very excited during the meeting. In my mind, being the head coach is a supreme honour. I would want to thank all the leaders for the recognition and support. Also, I would like to thank the glorious team for building me. Thank you everyone for the effort. For Cai Zhenhua, my special thanks to you for having the confidence in me." Liu Guoliang said.

"Congratulations to my brother Liu Guoliang. I am thankful for Cai Zhenhua for all the years he has cultivated me. I would also like to thank the team for believing in me. In seven Olympic Games, the Chinese Women's Team only lost one gold medal. Speaking for myself, there is a mix of opportunities and pressure. Coach Shi Zhihao has done a brilliant job in the last two Olympic Games. But for me, pressure is also a good thing as it can be motivation. I will use all my efforts to match Liu Guoliang and to create a new table tennis environment and international influence. I hope everyone will be able to see it." Kong Linghui said.

The first test of Liu Guoliang as the new head coach of the Chinese Team and Kong Linghui as the head coach of the women's team is the 2013 World Championships in Paris.
