Orenburg of Vladimir Samsonov and Dimitrij Ovtcharov got the first place after the fourth round-robin round of the 2012-13 Russian Premier League. In the last round the defending champion posted victories over clubs such as UMMC of Alexander Shivaeb and Moscow of Alexey Liventsov. The second place went to UMMC.

Orenburg finished in the first place of the 2012-13 Russian Premier League after four rounds. Therefore, Vladimir Samsonov and Dimitrij Ovtcharov's club progressed to the play-off. UMMC of Alexander Shibaev got the second place and also reached the next round. Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod got the third and fourth place, respectively.  

Orenburg and UMMC didn't score defeats in the first day of competition. Samsonov's club beat ULLC and Ray Vladimir by 4:0, while UMMC got victories over Hidromet and Orenburg II by 4:0 as well. In the second day Orenburg stood victorious over Cytc Ulan by 4:2 and Moscow by 4:3, while Shivaeb's club overcame Sedin by 4:2 and Nizhny Novgorov by 4:1. In the first match of the third day, UMMC  posted a 4:0 victory over Kazan, while Orenburg defeated Horizon by 4:0. In the second match, Orenburg and UMMC clashed. 

It was expected an amazing and long match between these rivals, but Orenburg swept with UMMC by 4:0. Vladimir Samsonov beat Hou Yingchao by 12:10, 11:7, 9:11 and 11:7 in the opening match. Then Fedor Kuzmin overcame Grigory Vlasov by 12:10, 11:9 and 11:7. Alexei Smirnov didn't have an easy match against Alexander Shiabev but he managed to win by 7:11, 11:7, 7:11, 12:10 and 11:7. In the doubles match, Samsonov and Smirnov beat Shibaev and Tan Ruiwi by 11:9, 11:6 and 11:7.

Friday 19th: Moscow 4-1 Orenburg II, Nizhny Novgorod 4-3 Ray Vladimir, Sedin 4-3 Horizon, Cytec Ulan 4-1 Kazan, Moscow 4-1 Kazan, ULCC 4-0 Sedin, Cytec Ulan 4-1 Hydromet, Nizhny Novgorod 4-0 Horizon. 

Saturday 20th: Moscow 4-0 Hydromet, Horizon 4-0 Orenburg II, Nizhny Novgorod 4 -0 ULCC, Ray Vladimir 4-0 Kazan, Ray Vladimir 4-2 Kazan, Cytec Ulan 4-2 Kazan, Horizon 4-1 Hydromet. 

Sunday 21st: Moscow 4-0 Sedin, Nizhny Novgorod 4-1 Cetyc Ulan, Ray Vladimir 4-2 Hydromet, ULCC 4-1 Orenburg II, Moscow 4-1 Nizhny Novgorod, Sedin 4-3 Cytc Ulan, Ray Vladimir 4-1 Orenburg II, Hydromet 4-0 ULCC, Horizon 4-1 Kazan.
