For 22 years, the World Championships Mixed Doubles championship title has always been in the Chinese camp. However, today in Paris, a different story was told as the top seeds from China Wang Liqin and Rao Jingwen were not able to reach the finals after experiencing defeat against the South Koreans Lee Sang Su and Park Young Sook.

ITTF. The sixth day of the 2013 World Championships was ushered with a thrilling match in the semifinal round of the Mixed Doubles. In the round, the Chinese top seeds found their worthy opponents in Lee Sang Su and Park Young Sook.

After surviving great challenge in the quarterfinals against the Turkish Bora Vang and Melek Hu, the Chinese top seeds Wang Liqin and Rao Jingwen advanced into the semifinals against South Koreans Lee Sang Su and Park Young Sook.

Immediately at the start of the match, the South Korean pairing showed a good amount of strength and secured the opening set. Interestingly, Lee and Park were not hesitating to attack the top seeds and increased their control much further. This has placed Wang Liqin and Rao Jingwen under pressure.

With the pressure of placing China in the finals and being behind in 0-2, the Chinese pair was in great danger against the fiercer South Koreans. With the vulnerability of the opponents, Lee Sang Su and Park Young Sook took advantage and increased their lead to a commanding 3-0.

Despite being threatened, there were still no changes in Wang Liqin and Rao Jingwen. With points streaming towards the South Korean camp, China had to call for a timeout. When the match resumed, Chinese pairing successfully extended their lifeline and saved one set.

Lee Sang Su and Park Young Sook were not disheartened and led the fifth set with a commanding advantage. At this point, Chinese pair Wang Liqin and Rao Jingwen were not able to recover.
