CTTSL. Aside from the team competition, players in the Chinese Super League also competes individually to be hailed as the Most Valuable Player. For this year, Shanghai's Xu Xin tops the list.
The regular season of this year's Chinese Super League is almost to its finish line as there are only three rounds left in the competition before the top four teams will compete for the championship title.
In the latest round held just yesterday, September 25, leading names like Ma Long, Zhang Jike and Xu Xin all achieved victory in their respective matches. Ma Long posted 3-1 against Wu Jiaji while Zhang Jike swept the man in form in the National Games, Zhou Yu. Also in the round, Xu Xin swept Qiu Yike.
Although these players all achieved good results in the round, the strongest contender for this year's MVP award is Xu Xin. Despite some minor problems encountered as the competition resumed from the National Games, Xu Xin tops the individual rankings with 19 wins and 6 losses.
However, Xu Xin should not be too complacent as Ningbo's Yan An is following closely behind with 18 wins and 6 losses. 2011 MVP awardee and Grand Slam champion Zhang Jike is in third place with 13 wins and 5 losses.
Last season's MVP is Ma Long. Although he has a superb record with 12 wins and just having one loss, Ma Long is only ranked fourth. With three rounds left in this season, it would be hard for Ma Long to get the award this year. But still, who knows?
