Chinese Taipei's Chen Chien An has proven himself when he defeated Zhang Jike in the World Team Cup in 2013. In the 2014 Asian Games, he was close to having his second major victory in his athletic career and that is winning over the top seed Xu Xin. The Chinese player admitted that he played really bad in that match.

PingPang World. Chen Chien An had his moment in the 2014 Asian Games. Unfortunately, it was his Chinese opponent Xu Xin who capitalised the opportunities.

Xu Xin was the top seed in the 2014 Asian Games and he was one of the two delegated of the Chinese Team in the Men's Singles. He didn't expect he will meet a big challenge in the round 16 from Chen Chien An.

Before the such match, Liu Shiwen passed by and said: "There are a lot of tables today and the audience is very noisy." When Xu Xin entered the arena, he did not just discover that it was noisy, his match was also placed between two matches of South Korean players. "The sound of the cheers was deafening." Xu Xin recalled.

Indeed, for whatever reason, Xu Xin started poorly. "I was really anxious after I scored 0-2. When I was behind in 2-5 in the third set, coach Liu Guoliang called for a timeout with the intention of upsetting the rhythm of the opponent. After the game resumed, I scored 9 straight points and won the third set." Xu Xin said.

However, the challenge didn't stop as Chen Chien An continued to fight back and even raised his lead to 3-1. But in the fourth set, Xu Xin came back much stronger and sealed the match with 10-12, 6-11, 11-5, 10-12, 11-3, 11-7, 11-8.

"I totally wasn't able to play out well. Luck was not on my side that day. In the World Championships, I won against Chen Chien An in 3-0. I think it is because of that. I wasn't able to prepare very well for that game." Xu Xin concluded.
