The table tennis sport will be implementing a big change this year as the old celluloid balls will be changed to a new less-harmful plastic balls. This change will take place in the middle of this year and in competitions auctioned by the ITTF.

However, the Chinese Super League will not be following such trend. This is according to an article released by Sina Sports.

According to Bayi Team head coach Wang Tao, they have already started training with the new ball but since there are still competitions that will use the old ball, they didn't spend much time in such training.

"We have started training but I will not dare train too much. Because it is an international event, there is no way out. We are in accordance with the provisions of the Chinese Table Tennis Association."  Wang Tao started.

"Recently, we have heard the news that this year's Asian Games to be held in September will use the old ball. If we are going to change to the new one and have an extensive training with it, it will certainly compromise the performance with the old ball." He explained.

The French Table Tennis Association has also announced that they will not be using the new plastic ball in their league competition this year.
