Japan won all gold medals of the 2014 Chile Open. On Saturday Mizuki Oikawa and Miyu Maeda captured the title in the U21 and on Sunday Miyu Maeda and Kohei Sambe clinched the title in the senior competition. Maeda overcame her compatriot Hina Hayata, while Sambe went to great lengths to beat Argetina's Rodrigo Gilabert. 

Miyu Maeda and Kohei Sambe were crowned champions of the 2014 Chile Open. Sambe, who got the second place in the U21, redeemed himself on Sunday. In semifinals he overcame Argentina's Gastón Alto by 11:6, 11:9, 11:6, 8:11 and 11:6. The Japanese player faced Argentina's Rodrigo Gilabert in the final.

Gilabert caused the biggest upset in the tournament as he stood victorious over Mizuki Oikawa, U21's winner, by 8:11, 11:9, 11:9, 11:4, 8:11 and 11:7. In the final the Argentinian player was about to cause another upset but Sambe prevailed. Gilabert won the first game by 13:11, but Sambe leveled by 11:9. The Argentinian player took the lead as he won the next games by 18:16 and 11:7. But Sambe fought back and leveled by 12:10 and 11:3. After a close 7th game, Sambe got victory by 12:10.

In the women's competition Miyu Maeda, U21's winner, reached the final after beating Japan's Seira Ishijima by 11:8, 12:14, 11:9, 7:11, 11:8, and 11:5. In the final Maeda faced Hina Hayata, who defeated Shiho Matsudaira by 11:4, 11:5, 11:7 and 11:3. Maeda captured the title after winning over Hayata by 11:8, 11:8, 12:10, 10:12 and 11:6.
