Zhang Jike was under a lot of doubts when he lost to Dimitrij Ovtcharov in Tokyo last month. Just last week, Zhang Jike faced another defeat against the German player in the Super League and everyone thought he is really now in trouble. One round after, Zhang Jike defeated Ma Long. Could there be something he wants to say out of that victory?

China Sports Daily. When Zhang Jike lost to Dimitrij Ovtcharov the second time, he responded with a victory over Ma Long in the next round.

We saw how poorly Zhang Jike played in the 2014 World Team Championships Men's Team finals against Germany. He was swept by the 2012 London Olympic bronze medalist, Dimitrij Ovtcharov. That was a month ago.

Last week, in the seventh round of the Chinese Super League, Zhang Jike played surprisingly poor again against Jiangsu. He did not just lost to his former Shandong teammate, Zhang Chao but also to the German Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

Eventually, such performance from him made it into the headlines of Chinese sporting websites, explaining how the Grand Slam champion is in deep danger. Zhang Jike remained silent about everything.

Last Saturday, although Shandong lost to Ningbo Team, Zhang Jike surprised everyone when he overcame his nemesis Ma Long in the eighth round of the Super League in four sets.

Yesterday, Shandong faced Bazhou and Zhang Jike contributed a sweep victory against Fan Shengpeng. Shandong won.

Just as he was doubted again by people, Zhang Jike responds with a surprising performance and that is defeating Ma Long.

Could Zhang Jike have been very focused on Ma Long all this time that he has loosen up to other opponents?
