China and South Korea were the strongest teams in the 2014 Asian Games Men's Team competition. But only one team will have to step on the highest level in the medal podium. Earlier today, both teams fought in the finals.

Ma Long and Joo Sae-Hyuk were the first players in the match and both gave their best to make their respective teams proud. Their battle was intense with each player showing off what they got. However, it was Ma Long who had a little bit more to offer. Despite the strong resistance from Joo Saehyuk, Ma Long sealed the opening match with 11-9, 11-9, 10-12, 17-15.

The finals progressed with Xu Xin and Lee Jungwoo into the arena for the second match. After an intense and action-filled opener, Xu Xin's match was relatively more relaxed, showing a clear advantage of the Chinese player over the host. Xu Xin finished off with 11-3, 11-5, 11-6.

At this point, China was one match away to victory. Zhang Jike had the task to end it in the third match while his opponent, Jeong Sangeun had the mission to stop him. The Grand Slam champion had a good start with a commanding 11-1 score. His opponent tried to catch up in the second set but failed.

Zhang Jike took control over the match with 11-1, 11-9, 11-7. China was successful in defending the Men's Team title.

Women: China 3-1 Japan

Before the competition, Kong Linghui has revealed that he was expecting a challenging match against Japan. Indeed, his expectations were met.

Ai Fukuhara defeated Ding Ning in the first match with a score of 11-6, 11-9, 3-11, 15-13. China was placed in even more danger when Liu Shiwen lost the opening set of the second match against Kasumi Ishikawa. Fortunately, Liu Shiwen was able to quickly recover and took the succeeding sets, ending it with a 3-1 victory (3-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8).
