North Korean Pair Wins Women’s Doubles Title

Miu Hirano and Mima Ito are two of the most promising young players from the Japanese Team. At a young age they have already proven their strength but against the North Korean pair in the finals of the Women’s Doubles today, Hirano and Ito struggled. Eventually, Kim Hye Song and Ru Mi Gyong controlled the game and successfully won the title. 

ITTF. The Women’s Doubles also had its conclusion today and the winner is from North Korea after Kim Hye Song and Ri Mi Gyong overwhelmed the young Japanese pair. 

Earlier this day, the Women’s Doubles had their penultimate stage where the North Korean duo Kim Hye Song and Ri Mi Gyong had a free entry into the finals after the Chinese pair of Chen Meng and Zhu Yuling retired from the competition. 

Yesterday, Chen Meng withdrew from her final match in the Singles due to injury. 

Meanwhile, in the upper half of the draw, the young pair from Japan, Miu Hirano and Mima Ito faced the veterans from Hong Kong, Jiang Huajun and Tie Yana. The Japanese duo showed a good performance, leaving their opponents in 0-4. 

Miu Hirano and Mima Ito scored 11-6, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7 into the finals. 

Eventually, the event boiled down to Japan versus North Korea. 

Having a free round earlier this day, Kim Hye Song and Ri Mi Gyong started strong in the final match. They imposed authority with an 11-3 score in the opening set. Despite the promising status of the young Japanese pair, North Korea was very strong in the match. 

Miu Hirano and Mima Ito found themselves in a 0-3 deficit. In the fourth set, momentum continued to stay in the North Korean side. 

Kim Hye Song and Ri Mi Gyong sealed the match with 11-3,12-10, 11-5, 11-7. They are hailed as the Women’s Doubles champion.
