No German players in semifinals of the 2016 German Open. Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov said good-bye to the competition after being swept in quarterfinals. Boll suffered defeat by hands of Vladimir Samsonov, while Ovtcharov fell against Chuang Chih-Yuan. Ma Long and Zhang Jike are in semifinals. 

German stars will miss semifinals of the 2016 German Open. Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov were defeated in quarterfinals today. Boll had his chances against Vladimir Samsonov but the Belarussian player prevailed by 12-10, 12-10, 11-9 and 11-6. Ovtcharov couldn't enjoy success against Chuang Chih-Yuan this time. He lost by 11-5, 9-11, 11-8, 11-2 and 11-5. 

So the second semifinal will be a duel between Vladimir Samonov vs Chuang Chih-Yuan. 

The first semifinal will be the world derby: Ma Long vs Zhang Jike. The world champion showed his supremacy once again and beat Japan's Kaii Yoshida by 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 and 12-10 in quarterfinals. Zhang Jike emerged successfully Fang Bo by 13-11, 11-8, 11-6, 8-11 and 15-13.
