England kept the winning path at the 2016 World Team Championships. Paul Drinkhall & Co. defeated Poland and reached quarterfinals for first time in 33 years. The English team will meet France tomorrow. Portugal and Sweden are the other European teams in the best 8. 

ITTF. England reached new heights at the 2016 World Team Championships. The English team overcame Germany in the group phase and is now in quarterfinals after beating Poland in the first round of the main draw. 

Paul Drinkhall led the team to victory as he overcame Zengyi Wang by 3-1 in the first match and Jakub Dyjas by 3-1 in the deciding match. Liam Pitchford got the second point against Jakub Dyjas by 3-2 in the second match. In the third match Daniel Gorak won the first point for Poland after beating Samuel Walker by 3-2 in the third match. Wang stood victorious over Pitchford by 3-1 in the fourth match. 

England will meet France in quarterfinals tomorrow. 

In the highest side of the draw China will face Sweden that overcame Croatia by 3-0. Portugal also progressed to quarterfinals as it defeated North Korea by 3-0. The former European champions will face South Korea. 

In the third match of quarterfinals Hong Kong emerged successfully over Austria by 3-1 and will play against Japan.
