Li Jiao is the only European player alive at the 2016 Polish Open's women event. The Dutch player overcame Germany's Sabine Winter to be in the best four players. Kasumi Ishikawa, Yu Mengyu and Miu Hirano are also in semifinals.

Li Jiao waved the flag for European players at the 2016 Polish Open. The Dutch player is the only European in semifinals. Li progresed to semifinals after beating Germany's Sabine Winter by 11-7, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9 and 11-5. 

In the semifinals she will meet Japan's Miu Hirano. The young player defeated Japan's Hitomi Sato by 9-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-4 and 11-9. 

In the first semifinals Kasumi Ishikawa will face Singapore's Yu Mengyu. To book a place in the penultimate stage, Ishikawa stood victorious over Germany's Han Ying. Yu Mengyu emerged successfully over Japan's Miyu Kato.
