Benedek Olah and Jieni Shao are the champions of the 2016 Nigeria Open. Benedek of Finland stood victorious over Egypt's Khalid Assar in the final match, while Shao of Portugal overcame Hungary's Szandra Pergel. Russia captured the titles in the men's and women's singles. 


Benedek Olah and Jieni Shao are the 2016 Nigeria Open. Olha of Finland clinched the title in men's singles after winning against Egypt's Khalid Assar by 7-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-7 and 11-7 in the final match. To reach semifinals, Olah overcame Nigeria's Segun Toriola by 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 12-10, 9-11 and 11-6. In the first semifinals Assar beat Portugal's Zhao Tianming by 13-15, 11-7, 11-9, 11-7, 5-11 and 11-9.   

In the women's singles Jieni Shao claimed the title after beating Hungary's Szandra Pergel by 9-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-6 and 11-9 in the final. In her previous match Shao eliminated Irina Ciobanu by 12-10, 11-9, 12-10 and 11-3. In the second semifinals Pergel overcame Nigeria's Olufunke Oshonake by 11-8, 11-5, 12-10 and 11-6. 

In the U21 event Shady Magdy of Egypt and Irina Ciobanu of Romania were crowned champions. Magdy got the title as he emerged successfully over Portugal's Diogo Chen by 11-8, 12-10 and 11-1. In the women's singles final Ciobanu posted a a victory over Russia's Tatiana Garnova by 11-6, 11-4 and 11-6.

Russia dominated the doubles event. In men's doubles Andrey Bukin and Vasilij Filatov won the title as they stood victorious over Portugal's Diogo Carvalho and Diogo Chen by 6-11, 1-11, 11-7, 11-8 and 13-11. In women's doubles Irina Ermakova and Olga Kulikova gave no chance to Cameroon's Sarah Hanffou and Olufunke Oshonaike by 11-4, 11-3 and 11-7.
