As of now, Ma Long is already safe to take part in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. But the question now is who will complete the Singles list for the Chinese Team? Would it be Zhang Jike? Liu Guoliang said that the coaching staff will seriously consider all the possible options and the qualifications of the player.

Tencent Sports. Zhang Jike is the only player left with the Olympic Singles experience but would this be enough for him to be reported in the Olympic lineup?

After deciding on Ma Long to play in the Singles, everyone is now concerned who can be the second player of the Chinese Team in the Singles. Can Zhang Jike be that person?

“We will seriously consider the place of the second Singles player.” Liu Guoliang answered.

“I know that everyone is concerned with Zhang Jike, Xu Xin. Both of them have their own characteristics. The overall strength of the Chinese Team is very strong. The coaching staff will seriously consider everything.” The head coach added.

Liu Guoliang further explains what are those things to be considered. “The recent results in big competitions, the player’s own competitiveness and technical strength, as well as the psychological quality and the ability to control pressure in big competitions.” He said.

Lastly, Liu Guoliang emphasised that the player should have a very strong heart to take part in the Olympic Games. “The Olympics is not the same with any other big matches. The psychological resilience should exceed the limits so that everyone can trust the player.” Liu Guoliang concluded.
