The German Team is considered to be the strongest competitor of the Chinese Team in the table tennis sport. For the upcoming Olympic Games, the German Team found the Chinese lineup as unexpected considering that Zhang Jike recently went through a difficult stage recording some defeats against German players. With this, the German Team believes that it would be an advantage to them.

Sina Sports. The German Team feels that the decision of Liu Guoliang in terms of the Olympic lineup was unexpected but they believe that they will benefit from it.

The Chinese Team confirmed their playing lineup for the Olympic Games last week. It was announced that Ma Long and Zhang Jike will play in the Singles while Xu Xin will play in the Team event. The promising young player Fan Zhendong gets to be the substitute.

After the confirmation was made, the German media made their comments as well. Being one of the strongest opponents of the Chinese Team, the German Team believes that they will benefit from the lineup.

According to the German media, the decision of Liu Guoliang was unexpected. In the past, the records of Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Boll against Zhang Jike were good. Ovtcharov has defeated Zhang Jike four times. The most recent was in the Qatar Open. Even Boll has also won over Zhang Jike four times. Out of those four victories, the most important victory was in the semifinals of the 2012 London Olympics Men’s Team event.
