It was a little surprising that the Chinese Team selected the top ranking player in the women’s division as their third person for the Olympic Games. The Chinese Team denied the invitation of Liu Shiwen from the ITTF to play in the Singles. The young player accepted her fate and at the same time believes that she will still have a chance in the next Olympic Games.

Sina Sports. Liu Shiwen failed to get her seat in the Olympic Singles this time for Rio but she remains to be optimistic for the next Olympic cycle.

Liu Shiwen really tried her best to put up a good fight in this Olympic cycle. She was able to reach the finals of the 2013 and 2015 World Championships. Performances like those eventually led her to the top spot in the world ranking.

Naturally, Liu Shiwen received the invitation from the ITTF to play in the Olympic Singles however, the invitation was denied by the Chinese Team. Liu Shiwen was selected as the Olympic third person.

The 25-year old player from Liaoning accepted her fate for this Olympic Games and she believes that she needs to improve her psychological resilience in critical parts of the match.

“Ding Ning and Li Xiaoxia have a lot of things which is worthy for me to learn from. In the next Olympic cycle, I still have the chance to realise my dream and make that day where my dream will come true.” Liu Shiwen concluded.
