Unlike the usual age of 4 or 5, Fan Zhendong started to learn table tennis at a later age of 6. He was drawn into table tennis for convenience at first but later on developed deeper appreciation towards the sport.

From his birthplace, Guangdong, Fan Zhendong joined the Bayi Team in year 2008 and after four years, entered into the National Team. His eye-catching performance in the 2012 Chinese National Championships was actually his ticket into the strongest team in the world.

Good things didn't stop for Fan Zhnedong and they happened really fast. In just a matter of months since his admission into the National Team, he got qualified to participate in the World Championships held in Paris.

He might not be successful enough in Paris, but he was able to redeem himself in the Chinese National Games, taking place September of 2013. He won two gold medals in the trounament (Men's Team and Doubles) and finished silver in the Singles where he pushed Ma Long into the edge.

Fan Zhendong wrote his name in table tennis history books after he won the Polish Open Men's Singles title. At that time, he became the youngest champion in the history of the World Tour, at age 16. Fan Zhendong's success continued in 2014. He was drafted for the World Team Championships and won the Youth Olympics Men's Singles and Mixed Team titles.

At this rate, Fan Zhendong is expected to accomplish much more in the near future.
